It’s Monday, can we please take a minute for a reality check? I think some of y’all think I wake up daily, put together a new outfit for this blog, hair done, face on etc. and take photos at my convenience. That is so not the reality of this job. I actually shoot once a week on Thursday morning, so spend the first half of my week planning outfits for the shoot based on current brand collaborations and content I’m seeking to create for L. Avenue. The first three days of the week I’m lucky to brush my teeth and do the bare minimum when it comes to hair (typically a ponytail) and make-up while in the carpool line.
So when Thursday rolls around I pack up 3-4 outfits into the trunk of my car and meet my fab photographer at TBD location, shooting quickly because we are both busy working moms. And most often changing clothes in the car. Modesty went out the window after childbirth, and I’ve perfected the covered up car-clothing-change. But you can image how challenging it is changing clothes in your car when 8 months pregnant! Ha. Oh, and since the goal is to bring y’all the latest season as early as possible, I’m currently shooting sweaters and coats and it’s 100 degrees outside. So this gig isn’t as glamorous as you might think. I still love it nonetheless. Just wanted to clear the air on this common misconception about blogging in case you were wondering.
So I’m currently busy shooting fall outfits, but this Mirth caftan is what I’m wearing on the reg. After all, it is still in the 90’s in Houston. The thing about this darker blush pink caftan is it can totally be layered over a turtleneck or underneath a long cardigan sweater and rocked with a slide or bootie for fall too. Especially, milder Texas fall weather. Mirth caftans, designed by two fabulous Houston sisters, are sold at two of my very favorite boutiques, Brooke Feather in Houston and Diani boutique in Santa Barbara. Check out the entire Mirth line here.
