Grown-up grunge.

I’ve always had an affinity for trend spotting and setting for that matter. From as far back as I can remember I’ve been an avid fashion magazine collector, starting at around 3 years old with the J.C. Penny catalogue. Not much as changed as I waited impatiently for Vogue’s September issue to rip out it’s pages to save for later fashion inspiration. If you’ve ever lived with me you’d notice {and likely groan} about the random magazine pages in every nook and cranny of the living space.

Fashion trends come and go and my mantra has always been to invest in staples and spend less on trendier items. I love how fashion designers draw inspiration from past generations and insert their own creative twist to make something of the moment. I had a major 90’s Clueless rollin’ with the homies moment when I put this outfit together at Nordstrom. I found this distressed denim jacket and loved that it was oversized. It reminded me of something my Mom would wear in the 80’s and 90’s. She was way trendier than I gave her credit. You’ll see denim out in full force again this fall. There’s also another shining moment for the slip dress. I tried this slip dress on with a dressier sandal and felt way too exposed. So adding in a statement boot and jacket is a nice contrast in my opinion. And this fall, the bolder the better when it comes to boots. I’m a boot traditionalist, but these gold stunners from Nordstrom are hard to pass up and budget friendly too. Too grunge for you? You could always rock with a more feminine blush moto or bomber jacket, also very much on trend this fall. Or go totally norm core and pair with a patterned cardigan and flats. Carpool pick-up approved.
