Nordstrom Anniversary Sale | shopping tips + picks

July 14, 2016

current mood for day 1 of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I don’t know about y’all but there’s no sale I love more than the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I’ve told y’all before and I’ll say it again, this sale is so good because we actually get to buy things for the next season ahead NOW and ON SALE. This is totally counterintuitive to the typical impetus for a sale—move items that didn’t sell. So under normal sale circumstances you’re buying summer stuff at the end of summer when what you really NEED is fall. Well, Nordstrom is hooking us up for all of our favorites for fall now. I’m so excited and just can’t hide it! Here’s some important information you should know about the sale…

Insider tips for navigating the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

–The sale starts for Nordstrom insiders aka Nordstrom credit card holders a week early, on July 14th-21st. Gaining early access is huge because so many of the most popular items sell out before the real sale even gets going.

–The sale prices won’t last, everything goes back to full price at the end of the sale on August 8th.

–Think about what you need or want to buy ahead of time and make a list. Here’s my list this year:

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping list {since the sale just went live, I’ll be adding to this list throughout the day today. But first, coffee!}

Women’s Clothing |Midi skirts are still all the rage for fall and this leather number is perfectly on point  and I love it paired with this peplum leather top. Or even pairing the peplum top with jeans is great for a dinner our. Hmm, who can say NO to this chic plaid Aline skirt for only ($49). Kate Spade belted suede in a wine color is an absolute MUST have. I love the rich wine colors for fall, ladies. To complete this ensemble this silk blouse paired with the Kate Spade suede wine color skirt is a fave, for sure. Jeans are a NO brainer for me when it comes to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Jeans rarely go one sale in the Fall, so I suggest everyone to take the opportunity to snag a few from one my my fave designers. Freshen up your skinny jeans with these by Frame and these staggered hem jeans are oh so cool paired with fringe booties.

We all know I’m a huge TIBI fan. Obviously, her off the shoulder tied sleeves number was so popular this Spring she designed a Fall version and I am loving it. Classic and understated this top is on point. Paired with my Frame skinny jeans and booties and perfection. I equally love this navy and this wine colored plaid button down paired with these staggered hem jeans and Vince sneakers is perfect for a Fall casual look. A Rag & Bone classic long vest is fantastic as a layering piece for a day to night event. This gorgeous number will be coming home with me for this coming Fall season for sure. Do you look for the perfect sweater to transition from Summer to Fall? I sure do and I am loving this light weight piece to help me move into those cooler days…in Houston. Ha.

Women’s Shoes | lace-up flats are still hot and this color is IT for fall ($59!) | Vince sneakers that are so chic | classic rain boots  | fringe booties ($99!), yes please! | I just added this bootie to my cart, these will NEVER be on sale again, I want them in every color but got the in the “topo suede” color so I can wear them now and in the fall too!

Women’s Handbags | these two All Saints bags are at the top of my fall IT bag list. On major sale and remind me of Celine but at a fraction of the price (leather tote and suede suede shoulder bag) | I have this bag in pink and really want it in this classic fall color that also works for summer too! | this bag is so good and will surely sell out, at first glance I thought it was Chloe! | this Kate Spade crossbody is a neutral no brainer!

Women’s Accessories | my new favorite sunglasses in so many great colors! | collar necklaces are trending for fall and this one is simple and delicate ($64!), a good first collar necklace to try out the trend | I love this classic layering necklace ($59!) | love these classic sunnies ($106!) | these aviator sunglasses are really rad | this watch will go with everything

Beauty | this Smashbox make-up set is everything you need for travel, also a great stocking stuffer or girlfriend gift | this Tom Ford set has my absolute favorite lipstick | I never switch out my make-up brushes and now is the time with this killer MAC brush set deal |

Men’s Clothing/Shoes Ladies, be honest do you dress your man, or does he dress himself? It’s a mutual collaboration in my house, but when a sale comes along I am the one doin’ all the buyin’ with his final seal of approval, of course. Personally, I love a classic look on a guy. This sportcoat is just that a – classic addition to any man’s closet. Like me, we always take this opportunity to stock up on a few pairs of jeans during this sale. To each their own, but my man loves the AG Protege jeans ($125). They are the best fitting jeans on most men, by far, I think. And what is a Nordstrom sale without a few new button down casual shirts for our weekend date nights paired with his new AG Protege jeans? These are my three fave picks this Peter Millar number , this Billy Reid number, and this Bugatchi number. Lastly, invest in a new pair of driving loafers for your man. These shoes are so comfortable, so I am told, and a fraction of the Ferragamo price tag. Only ($59)!

KIDS | this reversible vest is so cute | this Burberry dress is so cute for holidays | stocking up on winter/ski gear with this Patagonia vest and this fleece jacket | don’t forget back-to-school shoes for the kiddos!

For the Home | stocking up on sheet sets and these are great quality for the price | Ugg makes blankets now and I want to cuddle under this throw blanket all winter long (great gift idea!) | this steal throw comes in every color you can image, a great accent blanket | good down comforters never go on sale so snag these now | this cutting board is an inexpensive hostess gift idea or a pretty/useful kitchen accessory in your own home | I have these modern condiment servers and use them non-stop when entertaining
