Hey guys! I’m working remotely this week from sunny Hilton Head Island. Just a slight upgrade from my 2×4, windowless office in sweltering hot H-town. So I’ve been living in this dress lately because it’s so easy to throw on. And it more than covers my baby bump {in case you missed last week’s post, I’ve got some baby news!} So here’s the deal. I’m pretty anti-maternity clothing. For the most part, I’ve found it to be overpriced for the quality of the clothing that you get. Some brands that I’m super loyal to offer maternity lines and I’m shocked at the fact that a maternity version of a top is more expensive and the quality of materials typically worse. Being pregnant during the summer is a gift in the sense that summer dressing is way easier than winter. Flowy tops, light layers, maxi dresses, and the current rage for off-the-shoulder looks. So you’ll be seeing my summer wardrobe change slightly but not that much really. Of course I’ll be buying bigger sizes, but of clothes that I would want to buy non-pregnant and clothing I tend to wear post-baby. Like today’s dress. I’ve had my eye on it for months and when it finally went on sale I snatched it up. Unless I suddenly find out I’m having twins, this dress will fit throughout the rest of my pregnancy most likely. The material is a little thicker but it’s so roomy it’s totally breathable and I like having a sleeve if I’m baring the shoulders. Plus sleeves are great for indoor air conditioning, since it’s pretty awkward to wear a cardigan over an off-the-shoulder outfit. I’ve worn this dress casually with flats or a small heel but love the idea wearing this dress belted with a high heeled sandal for a night out or a summer wedding.
There’s also a top in this same awesome print, if maybe the dress is a little too much volume for your liking. And it’s 60% off!! I love this top with skinny jeans and wedge sandals. Speaking of sandals, I packed this pair for my trip and have worn them non-stop. They’re on sale here, but are final sale. They do run true to size but in case you aren’t a fan of final sale shopping, I also found them in black and nude here and they aren’t final sale. Side note on the packing front, I’m getting way smarter about packing less shoes Duh, more room for more clothes and accessories that way. So this trip I packed these sandals, these lace up flats and these rad new tennis shoes. I haven’t miss any of my shoes back home either.
