Hello friends! How was your spring break? Mine was awesomely unproductive, we had a really fun week chalk full of parties. I hosted a St. Patty’s playdate at my house with 40 kiddos under age 5 sipping green juice {not the healthy kind} and eating every green food I could come up with. And we celebrated Leighton’s 4th birthday with a gymnastics party. So this week is catch up week. I’m putting my house back together, catching up on email, and blog posts and getting ready for the Easter holiday. So even though it’s Tuesday it’s probably going to feel like Monday all week this week.
On a brighter note, I’m excited to bring you guys another installment from my spring wardrobe staples series today. A few weeks ago I posted about three key pieces that should be in your closet and today I’ll throw in a few more. At the top of my list is a lightweight sweater for chilly spring days and cool summer nights, preferebly beach nights or nights on the back porch in Ohio if we’re lucky enough to escape Houston’s heater of summer. Today’s J. McLaughlin sweater is perfect for both occasions. I’m obsessed with this sweater’s perfect blue hue. My little girls call it my Elsa sweater because it’s almost exactly the same bold sky blue as their Frozen costumes. I love layering a classic printed button down in a matching color combo underneath. When it gets a little warmer, this top is also super cute on it’s own paired with these shorts and this colorful wedge sandal. For now, I’m going with white denim. If you ask me, it’s never too early for white jeans, especially those of us in the south, since warm temps hit us even sooner than the rest of the country. But if white pants pre-Memorial Day still make you squirm, this sweater/button-down looks great with these pants too. Another wardrobe staple I’m beyond excited to share with y’all is this crossbody bag that’s been on heavy rotation lately. The great thing about this gem is it’s a classic style in a neutral leather that will certainly endure the test of time and can work for any season. Now if this doesn’t classify as a staple I don’t know what does!
